Prescriptions
Ordering Repeat Prescriptions
You can order your repeat prescriptions by:
- Using the NHS App
- Using PATCHS
- Email. Please your request to gmicb-hmr.reception.dmc@nhs.net. (Please note, this is for repeat prescriptions only)
- Bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 6.30pm
We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone
Your prescription will be sent to directly your nominated pharmacy. Please check that this is correct when you are ordering to avoid confusion. If your prescription cannot be sent electronically, one of our staff will contact you so you can collect a paper copy.
Please allow 48 hours for prescriptions to be ready for collection.
Collecting Your Prescription
You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- By using the NHS app
- At your GP practice
- At any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses through the Pharmacy First Scheme. These illnesses include:
- Coughs
- Colds
- Sore throats
- Tummy trouble
- Aches and pains
- Earcahe
- Impetigo
- Urine infection (under 65y of age)
If you have any of these conditions, you can go directly to the pharmacy without needing an appointment with a doctor.
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
What to do with old medicines
Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery.
Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
